Governed Idle System
ȱȱȱȱ¢ȱȱȱȱȱȱ

(temperature, parasitic load, etc.) that may change.

Governed Idle Speed Adjustment
1. Make sure the governed idle spring is in the outer
hole in the governor lever and the hole in the
ȱȱǻǼȱǯȱȱȱśȬŝǯ
ȱ Řǯȱ ȱȱȱȱȱȱȱȱȱȱ
of the governor lever and the hole in the high
ȱǻǼȱǯȱȱȱśȬŝǯȱȱȱ
governor lever away from carburetor to the limit
of its travel and check that the governor spring is
ȱȱȱȱ¢ȱǯȱȱȱśȬŝǯȱ
Turn the high speed (RPM) adjustment screw
counter-clockwise (if required) until spring is
ǯȱȱȱśȬŞǯ

3. Hold the governor lever away from the
ȱȱȱĴȱȱȱȱȱȱ
speed (RPM) adjustment screw of the carburetor.
Start the engine and allow it to warm up, then
adjust the screw to set approximately 1200 RPM.
Check using a tachometer. Turn the adjustment
screw (inner) clockwise (in) to increase or
counterclockwise (out) to decrease speed.
4. Release the governor lever and check that the
ĴȱȱȱȱȱȱǻǼȱǯȱ
ȱȱśȬşǯȱȱȱȱȱǻǼȱ
adjuster screw to obtain the equipment
manufacturers recommended idle speed (1500-
1800 RPM). The governed idle speed (RPM) is
typically 300 RPM (approximate) higher than the
ȱȱǯȱȱȱśȬŗŖǯ
