Troubleshooting
Symptom: Threshold is too short. Recommended Action
1. There is a gap between the threshold and the wall on the
showerhead side.
A. Move the threshold tight against the wall on the showerhead side. The U-channel will cover the gap on the pivot side.
Symptom: Alignment Recommended Action
1. The wall jamb and strike jamb are out-of-plumb. A. Determine whether the top or bottom of the jambs are closer to the wall, and then adjust the adjustment screws out where the
jambs are furthest from the door following the instructions.
2. There is a gap between the fixed panel and the wall. A. Push the seal on the wall side of the fixed panel tight against the wall.
3. The wall is not plumb on the fixed panel side of the
installation.
A. Push the seal on the wall side of the fixed panel tight against the wall.
B. While a partner holds the fixed panel in place, carefully loosen the screws on the L brackets and adjust the door as needed.
Tighten the screws.
C. Shim the bracket to account for the out-of-plumb condition.
4. The door panel does not touch the bulb seal along its
entire length.
A. Adjust the strike jamb closer to the door panel following the instructions.
5. The door panel does not touch the bulb seal when closed. A. Adjust the strike jamb closer to the door panel following the instructions for side-to-side adjustment or width adjustment.
6. The door panel does not align parallel to the strike jamb.
The top or bottom are closer.
A. Determine whether the top or bottom of the door panel is closer to the wall, and then adjust the #8-18 x 5/8” adjustment screws
following the instructions.
Symptom: Water Leaks Recommended Action
1. Water leaks between the door panel and fixed panel. A. When showering, make sure the fixed panel is against the showerhead wall.
B. Install the optional door seal, #1013487-03. Order the seal by calling 1-800-4KOHLER or visiting www.kohler.com/serviceparts.
2. Water leaks between the strike jamb and the door panel. A. Adjust the strike jamb closer to the door panel.
3. Water leaks under the threshold. A. Check for proper silicone sealant application. Apply additional silicone sealant in the leak location.
4. Water leaks around the wall jamb area. A. Check for proper silicone sealant application. Apply additional silicone sealant in the leak location.
5. Water leaks over the threshold. A. Confirm the seal on the bottom fo the door jamb is properly installed. Install or adjust as needed.
Symptom: Operation (open/close) Recommended Action
1. The bottom of the door rubs on the threshold when
opened or closed.
A. Confirm the front edge of the door panel is the same height as the back edge. Confirm the bracket screws are tight, tighten if
needed.
B. Tighten the setscrews in the pivot hinges.
C. While a partner holds the fixed panel in place, carefully loosen the screws on the door panel brackets and adjust the door as
needed. Tighten the screws.
Confirm the door panel is correctly aligned with the
strike jamb. The edge of the door panel should contact
the bulb seal and strike jamb seals (see the arrows)
when closed. The door panel should align evenly with
the strike jamb along the entire length. Steps 27 and 28
provide adjustment instructions.
The door panel should contact the strike jamb seal when
closed. If the wall is out-of-plumb, use the adjustment
screws to align the stike jamb with the door panel. To
adjust the strike jamb toward the door panel, loosen the
#8-18 x 7/8” attachment screws. Then adjust the #8-18 x
5/8” screws outward as needed.
The door panel should contact the bulb seal when
closed. Correct orientation is shown from above. To
adjust the wall and strike jambs along the wall, loosen
the screws in the slots at the areas the door is out of
alignment. Reposition the jambs, confirm alignment,
and retighten the screws at each location.
Insert side #1 (small groove) of the stud into a handle.
Tighten the setscrew using a 3/32” hex wrench Add
a spacer and position in the door. Install the second
handle on side #2. Tighten the setscrew securely.
If the strike jamb seal was removed for adjustments,
reinstall it now. Apply silicone sealant as shown. A
bead of sealant should also be applied along the entire
length of the wall seal to wall seam on the inside of the
shower (not shown).
Tighten the setscrew on the hinge. Install the threshold
seal to the door panel, leg on the side opposite the pivot
hinge. Leave a 1/2” (13 mm) gap on the handle side of
the door panel.
With a partner, position the door panel with the hinge
and pivot aligned. Install the hinge pins. Position the
plastic washer on the screws. While holding the pin in
place from above, secure the pins with the screws from
below. Tighten using a Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the tape cover from the adhesive on the spacer
block. Install the spacer block on the showerhead side
of the threshold, tight against the threshold, long side
against the wall. Move the wall jamb and strike jamb
into place against the spacer block.
Slide the bulb seal into the channel in the strike jamb
from the top. Close the door. While one person holds
the strike jamb and wall jamb in place, close the door
and visually align the strike jamb with the door. Adjust
as needed.
Open the door. Mark the three wall jamb slot locations
with a nail or other sharp object using the slots as a
template. Remove the strike jamb and wall jamb and
set them aside.
Drill 5/16” holes at each mark. Install the provided
anchors. Clean the surface of the shower to avoid
damage.
Move the wall jamb back into place. Secure the wall
jamb with three #8-18 x 1-1/2” screws in the slotted
holes.
Install the four #8-18 x 5/8” adjustment screws into the
hole locations shown. These screws allow the strike
jamb to be adjusted out from the wall jamb.
Move the strike jamb into place and secure it to the
wall jamb using four #8-18 x 7/8” screws. While
tightening, confirm the adjustment screw screwheads
align with the holes in the strike jamb.
Snap the strike jamb seal into place.
Position #1222950 pivot gaskets on the back plate and
hinge bracket. Confirm the pivot gaskets are correctly
oriented. On the fixed panel, position the back plate on
the L-bracket side and hinge bracket on the Clean Coat
label side and secure.
Check the hinge brackets for level and alignment with
the L-brackets. Loosen the screws and adjust the hinge
bracket as needed. Retighten the screws securely.
Position the slider gaskets on the back plate and bracket.
Position the bracket on the CleanCoat label side of the
door panel, pins oriented toward the ground. Attach the
back plate. Tighten with a 5/32” hex wrench. Confirm
the bushings are installed in the pivot hinge. Reinstall
the bushings if needed.
Measure the distance “B” from the wall to the front of
the hinge location at each hinge. Subtract 1-3/8” (35
mm) from “B” to determine dimension “C.” Write down
C.”
Loosen the setscrew on the bottom of the pivot. Adjust
the front of each hinge to ”C.
